Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has spoken to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and requested him to postpone the NEET and JEE examinations. He told the PM that these examinations should not be conducted in view of the coronavirus epidemic and flood situation. Two days before this, CM had also written a letter to Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank to postpone the examinations.
Naveen Patnaik told the PM on the phone that the coronavirus has spread too much in Odisha. Conditions are also serious about floods. If JEE and NEET exams happen, then students will have to face a lot of difficulties to reach the centers.
'Students' Lives may be at Risk'
In a letter
to the Union Education Minister on Tuesday, Naveen Patnaik had said that the
NEET and JEE examinations should be postponed. He wrote in the letter that the
students' lives could be put at risk by conducting examinations.
90 Thousand Students of Odisha have Enrolled

that the National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting the Medical and
Engineering Entrance Examination in September. Around 50,000 students from
Odisha has applied for appearing in the NEET exam and 40,000 students for
appearing in JEE Main exam. The lives of all these students can be at risk.
It Has Been Raining in Odisha for Several Weeks
Odisha has been receiving heavy rains for the past several weeks. Many areas are flooding one after the other. Areas connected to the Bay of Bengal have been badly affected. Roads are broken. Many contact routes are over. The lives of hundreds of people have been affected.
