New Delhi, India;
Congress has formed a committee to
consider the ordinances issued by the Modi government. Many close leaders of
the Gandhi family have been included in this committee. Whereas, Ghulam Nabi
Azad and Anand Sharma are excluded. Two days ago during the meeting of the
Congress Working Committee, there was a ruckus about the letter written by
Ghulam Nabi Azad.
These Leaders got a Place in the Committee
The leaders appointed in this
committee formed by Congress President Sonia Gandhi include P Chidambaram,
Digvijay Singh, Jairam Ramesh, Dr Amar Singh and Gaurav Gogoi. Jairam Ramesh
has been entrusted with the responsibility of combining this committee. This
committee will work to discuss the major ordinances issued by the Center and
decide the party's stand.
Azad was Told 'Pro-BJP'
During the meeting, several members of
the Congress, who wrote the letters, described the leaders as supporters of the
BJP. Azad is said to be saddened by the allegations and even then offered to
resign, terming it baseless. Other leaders who wrote the letter also denied
these allegations.
Trying to Convince Azad also Continues
After the uproar in the meeting of the
Congress Working Committee, the Gandhi family has been involved in damage
control. Sonia Gandhi has taken the front to persuade Ghulam Nabi Azad, who led
a disgruntled faction writing the letter. Soon after the meeting, Rahul Gandhi
also tried to remove the fallout from Ghulam Nabi Azad.
So Try to Convince Azad
Ghulam Nabi Azad is the leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha as well as the strong voice of the Congress in Parliament. Prior to this he has also been the Chief Minister of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The monsoon session of Parliament is about to begin within a month. In such a situation, the top leadership of the Congress does not want to threaten the unity of the party or weaken its voice in Parliament.
